Gathering up some of my more recent pieces for solo piano. Pure improvisations alternate with more fully composed work, all of it recorded "virtually" in Reason. Reason has many different piano types and sounds; rather than trying to minimize the differences, I've let each recording stand with the particular piano and recording quality I chose in that moment. Almost all of these pieces were made in the space of an hour or two, and are really just "snapshots" of some instant in time, my life, and my mind. -- Steve Layton, Seattle, 2017
